Courtesy of eOneGospel legend John P. Kee is set to perform at the 22nd Super Bowl Gospel Celebration during Super Bowl LV next month.
Following the release of his 2021 anthem, “It’s Gonna Get Better,” the Grammy-nominated vocalist will inspire viewers with his uplifting music and encouraging messages geared towards the event’s theme, “Nothing Can Stop Us.”
According to a press release, Rickey Smiley will host this year’s Gospel Celebration and introduce performances from The NFL Players Choir, Koryn Hawthorne, PJ Morton, Erica Campbell, Kierra Sheard, Zacardi Cortez, as well as singers from Pharrell Williams‘ Netflix’ music series, Voices of Fire.
It will also feature appearances from NFL stars DeSean Jackson, Dak Prescott and Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. As the son of a cancer survivor and one of the NFL’s youngest philanthropists committed to causes that support families and youth in underserved communities, Watson will be presented with the “Faith In Action Award.”
During the event, the American Cancer Society will highlight the importance of prevention and treatment in the Black community during the pandemic, which has “caused a devastating drop in cancer screenings.” Viewers are encouraged to donate $10 to the American Cancer Society by texting HOPE to 20222.
Gospel legends Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp, and Donnie McClurkin performed at last year’s annual event, which originated at Super Bowl XXXIII in 1999.
The 22nd Super Bowl Gospel Celebration returns Saturday, February 6 at 8 p.m. ET on BET.
