Halle Berry will represent herself in divorce case against ex-husband Olivier Martinez

by

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagicHalle Berry plans to act as her own attorney in a divorce case against her soon-to-be ex-husband, actor Olivier Martinez.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Marina Zakiyan Beck, Berry’s former attorney, accepted the change in July, with Berry signing off earlier this month.

Martinez will be represented by celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser. Her former clients include Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Heidi Klum, and Johnny Depp‘s highly publicized split from Amber Heard.

Berry and Martinez have filed separately, noting irreconcilable differences and asking for joint custody of their six-year-old, Maceo, according to court documents.

The two filed for divorce in October 2015, after two years of marriage. In 2016, TMZ falsely reported the two finalized their divorce. However, two years later, the outlet reported the finalization halt was due to a formal custody agreement for their son that had not been filed.

This marks Halle Berry’s third divorce, following her 1993 marriage to baseball player David Justice and her 2001 marriage R&B singer Eric Benét. Berry also has a 12-year-old daughter, Nahla, from a previous relationship.
