Happy Birthday, Deborah Cox!

Daniel Zuchnik/WireImageR&B vocalist Deborah Cox celebrates her 42nd birthday Wednesday.

The Grammy-award nominated singer is best known for her double-platinum hit single “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 29 straight weeks in 1998 and earned her a Billboard Music Award nomination for R&B Single of the Year. Her first self-titled debut album went platinum and garnered her an American Music Award nomination.  

Cox has enjoyed many illustrious musical collaborations with legendary artists such as Cyndi LauperBeBe WinansJosh GrobanThe Isley Brothers, and Kirk Franklin. She also duetted with Whitney Houston on the song “Same Script, Different Cast” from Houston’s album Whitney: The Greatest Hits

The Canadian-born singer has also been a longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights, and was given the Liberty Bell and Proclamation in Philadelphia, PA on June 12, to declare the day as LGBTQ Philadelphia Pride and Festival Day.  

Cox will star in the touring musical The Bodyguard: The Musical this year. The 1992 film The Bodyguard, on which the musical is based, was Whitney Houston’s first starring film. The 2016-2017 tour begins this November, with tickets on sale now.
