Happy couple, happy life: Faith Evans releases new track, ‘Ten Wife Commandments,’ from The King & I

by

Eric JohnsonThis Saturday marks the 25th anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.‘s final album, Life After Death.

In light of the big event, Faith Evans has released a new song, “Ten Wife Commandments,” based off of Biggie’s hit track, “Ten Crack Commandments.”

The tune, which is also the latest release from Faith and Biggie’s forthcoming duet album, The King & I, cleverly lays out ten commandments for a happy marriage — like “Gotta let him wear the pants” and “Gotta take care of your family” — while employing verses from the rapper’s 1997 classic.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Faith explained that while she had doubts about how the collaborative disc would come together, she felt Biggie’s spirit in the recording studio during the process.

“One day towards the end of recording, I was playing the album back for different people and I just felt a tap on my shoulder and I just started bawling like, ‘I think he just told me he’s proud,'” she said.

The King & I is set to drop two days before Big’s birthday — May 19 — and is available to pre-order now. The studio project will include rare and unreleased vocals by the legendary rapper, along with guest appearances from Busta RhymesLil’ Cease112Lil’ KimSheek LouchJadakissSnoop Dogg, and Styles P.

Others on the album include actor Jamal Woolard, who portrayed The Notorious B.I.G. in Notorious, the biopic based on his life and career, and Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, known as “Mama Wallace.”
