It’s a celebration: Robin Thede and cast react to the renewal of A Black Lady Sketch Show

Anne Marie FoxRobin Thede had a lot to celebrate on Tuesday night. The comedian-actress’ sketch comedy series A Black Lady Sketch was officially renewed for a second season on HBO.

“I AM CRYING PLEASE CALL ME LATER,” wrote Thede on Instagram, reposting the announcement.

She also tagged her series co-stars Ashley Nicole Black, Quinta Brunson and Gabrielle Dennis, who all took time to react and share the good news.

“Season 2! Here we come!!!,” wrote Black. Meanwhile, Brunson shared one word, “Ayyye.”

Dennis, on the other hand, had plenty to say about renewal news.

“I’m late as usual but we made it to season 2 AYYYYYEEE season 2!!!! she wrote. “Congratulations to all involved and THANK YOU @robinthede for the gift that is @ablackladysketchshow.”

She continued, “Also, THANK YOU to @issaraeand @hbo for giving Robin the platform to see her dream come true which in turn allowed so many talented Queens in front of and behind the camera to shine!”

As previously reported,  A Black Lady Sketch Show, is the first sketch comedy show created, written by and starring black women. Thede, a former head writer for The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, executive-produces with Rae, who is also part of the core cast.

A Black Lady Sketch Show airs Friday nights at 11 p.m. ET on HBO.
