Chuck Hodes/FOXAlicia Keys has enlisted some of her famous friends to support her charity, Keep a Child Alive.
Keys announced on World AIDS Day that Janelle Monae is among the new ambassadors for the foundation, which she founded in 2003.
Monae is looking forward to finding a cure for the 37 million people living with HIV. “This number is shocking and needs to be addressed immediately,” she said in a statement. “We need to come together and use our voice to help put an end to this epidemic!”
Alicia also recruited actress Taraji P. Henson and professional boxer Laila Ali as a part of a newly created power council to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.
“2015. AIDS should be over. But it’s still taking 2 many lives. Join @keepachildalive & I in the fight,” tweeted Alicia, who is asking fans to donate $30 to the cause.
Last month, Keys raised $3.8 million during her annual Black Ball charity for Keep a Child Alive.
