In a new interview with People, Jeannie Mai Jenkins talks about her new baby girl, Monaco, and the resemblance she has to her father, rapper Jeezy.
“She has his eyes, she has his nose,” Mai says, while discussing her Mother’s Day Gift Guide on Amazon. “I’m looking at my favorite twins in the world whenever I wake up.”
Mai gave birth to Monaco four months ago, and since bringing her daughter into the world, the journey has been “magical” and “exhilarating,” she says.
Parenthood has also been full of learning curves and lots of pressure, she admits. But she’s reminded to show herself grace, noting, “It’s just a lot of pressure — yes, I’m putting on myself — to perform. But I’m trying and I want to reward myself just for doing that.”
Mai has often shared about her experience breastfeeding. “It’s hard because it’s an every three-hour full-time job,” she tells People. “Like every three hours, I’m pumping, I’m massaging my breasts, I’m trying to get enough to fill a feeding, I’m taking the pills, I’m drinking the tea, I’m eating the cookies. I’m doing everything to maximize that every three hours.”
Despite the ups and downs that come with being a new mom, Mai says she’s “never felt so proud of myself, and never felt so much more like a woman.”
