Michael Bezjian/WireImageJhene Aiko is setting the record straight about her new single, “Triggered.”

Wednesday night, the L.A. songstress took to Twitter to refute fan speculation that her latest effort was aimed at ex-boyfriend Big Sean.

“‘Triggered’ was a moment. A moment that for me has passed,” Aiko wrote. “It is new to you because you’re just now hearing it, but for me… it’s something I moved on from the moment I expressed it.”

She continued, “’Triggered is NOT a diss song. It is a moment of talking s*** out of frustration and passion. It was a moment of exaggerated expression when I was feeling lost and weak. No one is to be blamed or bashed for how I was feeling in that moment. I am in control of my feelings.”

Aiko concluded her clarification of the song by providing insight into her creative process.

“This is how I paint. This is me yelling and throwing paint at a canvas,” she tweeted. “Then going out into the world feeling less tension, more open…more loving.”

As previously reported, the Trip songwriter dropped off the new record on Wednesday along with its accompanying video. Upon its release, many fans assumed Aiko was making indirectly referring to her breakup with Sean.
