Image Courtesy Def JamJhene Aiko struggles to find herself in the video for “Spotless Mind,” the latest single from her debut album, Souled Out.
In the clip, which premiered on the ELLE magazine website, the singer takes on various personalities while dating her love interest, O’Ryan, who is the real-life father of Aiko’s five-year-old daughter Namiko. As he attempts to court her, Jhene shifts from a goth girl to dominatrix and even a flower child hippy before O’Ryan eventually hands her a handwritten note that reads: “I’m leaving you.”
The singer is nominated in three categories at next month’s Grammy Awards, including Best Urban Contemporary Album for Sail Out and Best R&B Song for “The Worst.”
