Jill Scott announces 20th anniversary tour

by

The Chamber GroupJill Scott is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her 2000 debut album, Who Is Jill Scott Words and Sounds Vol. 1, with a new tour kicking off in 2020.

The first leg of the tour begins February 7 in Kansas City, Missouri and runs through March 21 in Columbia, South Carolina. Summer dates will be announced in 2020. Cities include Chicago, Dallas, Houston, St. Louis, and New York.

Who Is Jill Scott Words and Sounds Vol. 1 was certified double platinum and earned Jill a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, as well as Best R&B Album. Three songs from the album were also nominated for Best Female R&B Performance: “Gettin’ In The Way,” “A Long Walk,” and “He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat).”

“I’m going to be true to the album set list. I’ll do every song in the order of the album,” Scott tells Billboard about the tour. “My audience should bring their CD covers; some may know the list by heart. I will create musical arrangements for the songs purposed with new energy, but keep the integrity of the original songs they love. Expect theater. Expect incredible musicianship. Expect love.”

Ticket go on sale Friday on Scott’s website.
