After Twitter exploded Tuesday with rumors of a Jill Scott sex tape, the three-time Grammy winner has responded.
“Say word!?!” Scott tweeted alongside a GIF of herself taking her bows onstage in front of an adoring crowd. “I expect this energy when my new movies, albums and tv show drop. Ya’ll too much. #headedbacktowork #hydrate.”
After numerous people tweeted that they searched for an X-rated Jill Scott video and could not find it, they realized that the rumors were simply idle gossip.
“It’s no Jill Scott sex tape that mf was lying. How you gone start a rumor like that?! Report his account,” one person wrote.
Another fan chimed in, “You know what, if y’all lying about this Jill Scott flic you’re going to hell and ya mami cant save ya.”
Yet another person referenced the Jussie Smollett scandal, writing, “Honestly this is worse than Jussie telling the world he was jumped at 3 a.m. outside of a subway restaurant in the middle of the winter for no reason.” The former Empire star was convicted in December on five felony counts of disorderly conduct for making false police reports and staging a fake hate crime against himself in Chicago in January 2019.
As the rumors about Scott die down, she’s continuing to focus on acting after a very successful recording career from 2001-2015. She starred in the BET series The First Wives Club from 2019-2021, and in November, she starred in the Lifetime movie Highway to Heaven. Scott also starred for one season in 2008 in the HBO series The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.
