The news search engine Bipartisan Report tweeted a message to its followers that read, “#johnlegend pays for a food truck in Lincoln sq to feed #EricGarner supporters before the #NYC protest.”

Neither Legend, 35, nor Teigen, 29, appeared at the rally or took direct credit, but Chrissy retweeted this message to her followers: “3-6pm. FREE food trucks by Trader Joe’s Union Sq. @ophelporhush #FergusontoNYC #NYC2Ferguson.”

Legend did address the Ferguson situation in the song “Glory,” which he co-wrote with Common for the upcoming film drama Selma, based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches led by Martin Luther King Jr.  The lyrics include the line, “That’s why Rosa sat on the bus. That’s why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up.”

Last Thursday, Legend tweeted, “50 years since Selma. Still marching.”

Last week, a grand jury chose not to indict New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death last July of Garner, who was put in an apparent choke hold by the cop after Garner was selling loose cigarettes on the street. The 43-year-old Garner, who was overweight and asthmatic, died from a heart attack.

Last month, a grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, declined to indict white police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown last August.
