Image Courtesy Brian Bowen Smith A dapper John Legend graces the cover of Los Angeles Confidential magazine’s December/January Issue. In the accompanying interview, the singer candidly reveals why he was cautious in love before wife Chrissy Teigen.
Legend reveals that it wasn’t love at first sight when he first met the model. “Not right away. I’m more cautious than that. I wasn’t like, ‘This is the woman I’m going to marry’ from day one,” he tells the mag. “For me I’m the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever.”
His biggest hit, “All of Me” was inspired by Chrissy, who he says helped him into something he never felt before. “The more you know someone, the more you’re inspired by your relationship. Also, I grew up just learning what it means to be in love with somebody… because I had never really been in love before,” he says. “I guess you have to grow enough to be able to write that song with sincerity and authenticity.”
Legend and Teigen wed in September 2013.
