Out of all the artists John Legend could have chosen as the opening act for his upcoming North American tour, which begins next month, Tamar Braxton was the one the crooner knew would be perfect. The singer tells ABC News Radio why he selected the reality star to join him on the road as he promotes his latest album Love in the Future.
“Oh, I love Tamar, she’s a great talent, great singer, and obviously she’s doing really well right now, her TV show, her new album, all of her singles have been doing really well,” he says. “And I felt like she’d be a great combination for the tour. People are going to come out and get some really great R&B and soul and we’re going to have a great night.”
Kicking off on October 20 in Mashantucket, Connecticut, the six-week trek will make stops in New York City, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Detroit and Miami, as well as travel to major markets right around the holidays. Since both artists have significant others, we asked John how he’s able to balance it all, especially with his wedding to Chrissy Teigen drawing near.
“You know, you just have to make time. We take breaks between each tour and try to go on vacation or do whatever we can to like unwind and relax and spend some time with our loved ones,” he explains. “But I love to work, I love to travel and I’m so lucky that I get to do what I love everyday.”
And for those who have yet to hear Love in the Future, John described the overall vibe and mood that he was going for on his fourth studio effort.
John says, “The vibe, I think, is sexy, it’s soulful, it’s romantic, it’s optimistic, it’ll make you, if you’re not in love now, it’ll make you want to fall in love.”
