John Legend Supports Your Life Matters Campaign, Readies TV One Concert

John Legend is the latest celebrity to support the “Your Life Matters” initiative, which was was created in the wake of  George Zimmerman‘s acquittal in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

According to the campaign’s Facebook page, Your Life Matters was designed to encourage to young black men, stating “they have a right to live and be free.” Similar to video affirmations from Ne-Yo and Nick Cannon, Legend appears in a new clip where he reminds black men, “Your life matters because you’re valuable, unique and special and you have something to contribute to the world.”

In addition, the singer has been tapped to perform during an exclusive concert for HelloBeautiful’s InterludesLive on TV One later this week. He showcased new material off his latest album, Love in the Future, at an event which was filmed in front of an intimate audience in New York City at Red Rooster Harlem.

The concert event will air Saturday, September 14 at 10 p.m. ET.
