There’s definitely love in John Legend’s future: he’ll marry his longtime girlfriend, Chrissy Teigen, this fall.  Before that, though, the singer will release his highly anticipated album, Love in the Future.  It’s due next week, and in an interview with XXL magazine, the crooner spoke about working closely with frequent collaborator Kanye West on the project.

“I worked with Kanye more on this album than I had before,” he tells the mag, “I think part of it is just us connecting and getting together to create, given how busy he is and how busy I am. Just finding time for us to work together kind of added a little bit of extra time to the process. But I think it was worth it.”

John feels the reinforced connection with ‘Ye has resulted in what he describes as his “best album yet,” adding “I think creatively, we did some great things.”

“The collaboration and the talent that we have on the album is better than we’ve ever had,” Legend adds. “As far as producers, co-writers and people just helping shape the sound, I feel like Kanye’s leadership was great in helping to do that. I really feel good about it.”

The singer goes on to discuss working with Frank Ocean and navigating between hip-hop and R&B. You can read the full article via XXLMag.com now. Love in the Future arrives September 3 via Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint.
