Justin Timberlake: My New Album Is Like Falling for Your Girlfriend’s Older Sister

by

Facebook.com/JustinTimberlakeApparently, it’s a struggle to describe Justin Timberlake‘s upcoming album The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2, which is the sequel to his current disc.   First his manager, and now Justin, are using increasingly complicated metaphors to sum up the feeling of the new disc, which was actually recorded at the same time as the first one.

First, JT’s manager Johnny Wright told Rolling Stone that The 20/20 Experience is like a honeymoon, and the sequel is like an established relationship.  Now, Justin tells MTV that the songs on 2 of 2 are “a little bit darker,” and compares it to dating your girlfriend’s sister. What?  Let him explain.

“It’s like when you’re a freshman in high school and you think you’ve fallen in love with that …girl in your class and you go over to meet her parents ’cause you want to impress her parents, that’s the first half of the album,” he tells MTV. “But then when you get over there, you realize she has a sister that’s a senior.”

“She’s, like, the dark haired one that you can tell is a little bit like more experienced and darker,” Justin continues. “You know what I mean? Like, there’s something a little bit like more dangerous about that chick?  And then you’re like, ‘Wait, what have I been looking at?’ That’s the second half.”

Justin also said that instead of releasing two albums in one year, he toyed with the idea of putting out four EPs of five songs each.  But eventually, he decided that he’d release the albums as though they were fashion lines — the first part was the spring/summer collection, and the new one will be the fall/winter collection.
