Leon Bennett/Getty Images for BETAfter years of promises, K. Michelle is tapping into her Southern roots by finally starting work on her first full-length country album.

Tuesday, the “Can’t Raise A Man” singer shared the news with fans via an Instagram video post

“JUST MAKE MUSIC. ALL KINDS,” she captioned the post. “I’m an artist. Not letting anyone tell me how to be great cause I already am.I’m an artist. Not letting anyone tell me how to be great cause I already am.”  The post also included a song snippet.

While details about the album are scarce, Michelle did confirm that she is heading to Nashville later this week to begin the recording process. She also shared that she recently received the key to the city of Houston.

But before we hear Michelle’s country songs, we’ll get to hear her upcoming R&B album, All Monsters Are Human. The Atlantic Records signee shared that she has begun finalizing the track listing and begun mapping out visuals for that project.

Back in June 2018, Michelle teased the name of the album via Twitter. A few short months later, she dropped off the ballad “Save Me,” the album’s lead single. There’s still no release date, though.
