Aaron J. Thornton/WireImageK. Michelle apparently isn’t a fan of today’s R&B. In a series of now viral tweets, the singer said that music made by today’s R&B artists basically makes her drowsy.
“Up early listening to new R&B artist and this is the best way to fall asleep, this s*** has no soul and it boring,” she wrote. “It plays like one big lullaby. I’m so confused by it.”
She went on to clarify that it wasn’t just one singer in particular, but “several.”
“They [are] all the same like demo singers,” she tweeted, before adding, “There are some really good singles I hear though, but the albums lack hard work and more like the less the better im guessing. I guess.”
Of course, fans quickly took the Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star to task, with one fan asking her, “How do u know? U were in the studio with them?”
After fans continued to question her judgement, Michelle seemingly walked back some of her harsh critiques, tweeting, “But it’s some really really good overall music out.”
She then went on to elaborate what music really moves her.
“I grew up to Mary J [Blige] making you believe you not gone cry. I felt her pain in every way,” she wrote. “That’s soulllllllll music baby. I gotta feel you through my THC high.”
“That lady saved me so many times through songs,” she continued. “That’s how I desire to heal people and it’s hard 2do that whispering.”
Michelle then shared with fans what she hopes to bring to the genre with her music.
“When I sing I want you to feel every break in my heart. At the end of that song you should know me better,” she wrote. “That’s music my loves.”
