Keith Sweat Aims to Impress with His New Album

by

Adrian Albritton for Platinum MediaKeith Sweat released his 12th studio album on his birthday, July 22, titled Dress to Impress, his first album in five years.

Sweat encouraged fans on Twitter and Instagram to pick up his new album. “Today is the day! It’s my birthday and my new album #DresstoImpress is here! I want to thank all my fans who continue to support me throughout my career. Wow! My 12th studio album! I know the best gift you can get me!,” he writes on Instagram.

The multi-platinum star explains that his new collection of songs describes how men should treat their women: “How to woo and romance her, and make sure you put in the effort to treat that special person right; bringing more to the table than just what you see on the outside,” he tells JET about the album’s themes.

With his latest album and return to music, the recording legend aims to bring R&B back to life in the industry. “I just feel R&B music is very watered down with the younger people that are coming out now. When you listen to a Keith Sweat record, or say the Isley Brothers, you miss that feeling. Songs are supposed to take you down memory lane. That’s what real R&B does for you,” he says.
