Tyler Golden/NBCThe Battle Rounds begin tonight on The Voice and Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Rowland are thrilled to be working together.
Coach Hudson chose Rowland to be her team’s adviser for this portion of the competition, and the Oscar-winning star feels the Destiny’s Child member is perfect for the role.
“I wanted Kelly to be a part of it because I have always been a fan of Kelly,” says Jennifer, noting that she feels Kelly can give fans “a different perspective” on how to make it in the music biz.
“We came into the industry two different ways,” JHud explains. “[We can] show the contestants that there is no set formula to success…everyone has their own path and you can learn from me, from my way, or you can learn from someone like Kelly in her way.”
For her part, Rowland says she loves JHud’s approach to working with the contestants.
“She has so much to offer,” Kelly says. “She’s like, ‘I’ve been here.’ And when she’s talking to them, she acknowledges everything that they’re feeling and then helps them face it and deal with it.”
“It’s such a great approach because you watch them change right before your eyes,” Kelly adds. “And I love that part of it. And she’s just real.”
The Voice airs tonight and tomorrow night at 8 pm/7 pm Central, on NBC.
