David Becker/Getty Images via ABCThis year, Kelly Rowland added another line to her resume — “author” — with the release of her first book, Whoa, Baby.
But Kelly says she hasn’t forgotten about her music career: a new album is coming in the near future. Might that new album feature guest appearances from her fellow Destiny’s Child group mates? She’s not sure.
Kelly tells ABC Radio, “I don’t know yet. I don’t think that you can close any idea off because you just never know what lyrics and music is gonna tell you when you get in there.”
Either way, what Kelly can promise fans will be able to hear on her upcoming fifth album is her signature R&B sound and uplifting vibes.
Kelly says, “It’ll stay there. But it’s happy. It’s really, really happy. ‘Cause that’s the space I’m in. I can’t express any other space that I’m in, except for that right now. But I’m really excited to share that with everybody.”
Listeners can also expect Kelly’s new music to show off her willingness to experiment in the studio in order to craft new sounds, which she says was not an easy task.
She adds, “A year after I had my son, I was still recording… I had a sound and then I was like, ‘Um, I’m not excited about that anymore.'”
She adds, “So, I went through this phase of searching of what [my sound] is, and what I wanna say, and the end of last year I found exactly what that is. And I can’t wait to share it with everybody.”
