Sasha SamsonovaIn her new single “You,” Keyshia Cole sings about the collapse of a former relationship.
And now she reveals more about the brutally honest track and what — or rather who — inspired it. “I feel like I’m just now getting over the fact that my marriage didn’t work. I’m healing, however, And I’m not looking for any kind of substitute — another man, or alcohol — to help the healing or mask the pain I’ve been experiencing,” she tells Billboard.
Rather, Keyshia is focusing her thoughts and feelings on creating new music for her forthcoming album. “I’m trying to put everything into this album. This is serious music; not something to just throw out there,” she adds.
“As I work on this album, God is doing a lot of altering in my life. I’m just moving with the flow, living my life as I sing and create. And I have my son, so I’m good.”
Following her recent debut performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Cole is slated to appear on The Real this February.
