by

Maury Phillips/Courtesy of Central City Productions, TV OneSaturday is Kirk Franklin‘s birthday, but he’s giving his fans a gift: a new single titled “Love Theory.”

In addition, Franklin has released a visual for the high-energy record. In the clip, the Grammy-award winning gospel artist is seen enthusiastically spreading the good word as he’s backed by a choir.

The feel-good video features a cameo from James Shaw Jr., the 29-year-old hero responsible for saving numerous people from a gunman who opened fire at a Tennessee Waffle House last year.

Since dropping off 2015’s Losing My Religion, Franklin has been hard at work cultivating talent through his record label, Fo Yo Soul Recordings. Namely, in 2018, the seasoned vocalist produced pop star Tori Kelly‘s gospel album Hiding Place, for which he recently received his 23rd Grammy nomination.

Next week, Franklin is slated to perform at the 20th Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, airing on BET on February 2.  He’ll also host the 34th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on March 29.
