Label Says Rihanna and Jay Z No-Show Concert Is a Scam

Getty Images via ABCRihanna and Jay Z’s Roc Nation are being sued for her failing to perform a concert in Nigeria, however they say it’s a scam.

Promoter Chris Ubosi claims he sent RiRi $160,000 as a down payment for a show she was scheduled to perform in Nigeria in 2013, TMZ reports. Ubosi says he made the deal with two people who he claims represent the singer and her label Roc Nation, and agreed to pay her a total $425,000 to perform a 65-minute show. When she postponed the concert, Ubosi says he agreed to the change if Rihanna posted the new date on her social media.

The promoter charges that she did not post the new date, and he’s demanding his money back.

But a spokesperson for Roc Nation tells TMZ says Ubosi was ripped off by people not connected with the company.

“Rihanna, Roc Nation nor anyone associated personally or professionally with either party was in contact with this person,” the source says.  “Unfortunately this person was scammed. Rihanna nor Roc Nation collected any money for this event.”
