Bennett Raglin/BET/Getty Images for BETLaTavia Roberson, best remembered as one of the original members of Destiny’s Child, says that rumors of her quitting the group in 2000 are one-hundred percent false.

“I never left Destiny’s Child. That is something that people say. But who would leave Destiny’s Child? That’s crazy! I was dismissed from the group,” she tells People magazine.

She also disclosed that although she hates “even talking about it” and felt depressed after being ousted, she has since found peace in her post-Destiny’s Child life.

“It was very difficult because of the way that I found out about it. It’s been 20 years — but it is what it is. We saw the ‘Say My Name’ video on TV, and that’s how I found out I was no longer in the group,” added the singer.

“It was almost like a bad divorce — you’re no longer with your friends, people that you love so much. It led me into a depression. And it wasn’t pretty, like, at all.”

As previously reported, Roberson recently stated that she is open to reuniting with former Destiny’s Child groupmates BeyoncéKelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett.

Roberson’s forthcoming memoir, titled I Am LaTavia, will arrive next year.
