Lauryn Hill completed her her three-month prison stint for tax evasion last Friday. Now the singer has penned an open letter to everyone who supported her while she was incarcerated inside the minimum security Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut.
In a “letter of recognition” posted on her Tumblr page, Lauryn writes, “Many of your letters not only touched me, but continued to confirm for me what I already knew but needed to hear again: that sincere expression has a serious purpose.”
Hill adds, “If one of you had been touched, picked up, encouraged, or prevented from succumbing from some measure of social or Spiritual decline, then it was worth it.” She concludes by listing what appears to be the hundreds of names of every individual who sent her “words of encouragement and support.”
Lauryn is eager to resume her music career. She’s released a new single “Consumerism,” lifted off her forthcoming album, Letters from Exile.
