Aaron J. Thornton/Getty ImagesFor the first time in five years, Kem returns to the top of Billboard‘s Adult R&B Songs airplay chart with “Lie to Me,” a track from his forthcoming album, Love Always Wins.

“Having a No. 1 record is definitely an accomplishment that I don’t take for granted especially considering that I haven’t released any new music in over five years,” the R&B statesman shared with Billboard. “Its also tremendously affirming. It lets me know that musically, professionally and personally that I’m moving in the right direction, and I couldn’t be happier about that.”

“Lie to Me” adds to Kem’s five other No. 1 hit songs on Adult R&B Songs chart, along with “Love Calls,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” and his Grammy-nominated single “Nobody.”

Love Always Wins will be Kem’s first album since 2014’s Promise to Love: Album IV, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. He also confirmed a duet with Toni Braxton will be on the album.

Kem adds that the album’s title track with gospel singer Erica Campbell “perfectly reflects the energy I want to send out into the world today.”
