Two months after the release of his debut album, Montero, Lil Nas X shared that two of the artists he really wanted on the project declined — Nicki Minaj and Drake.

During an interview with GQ, the “Industry Baby” rapper explained that while he doesn’t typically ask other artists for a feature, when it came to Montero, he was lucky enough to get most of the ones he wanted.

“I don’t usually ask for features like that,” he said. “But for every feature I did ask for on this album, like, every single one of them worked…besides Drake and Nicki [Minaj].”

Lil Nas, 22, went on to reveal that he wanted Nicki to appear on “Industry Baby” and Drake on “Dolla Sign Slime.” The songs currently feature Jack Harlow and Megan Thee Stallion, respectively.

In addition to Jack and Megan, Montero, which was released on September 17, also features assists from Miley Cyrus, Elton John, and Doja Cat
