Lil Wayne left no doubt what he thinks of the Recording Academy following Sunday’s Grammys, tweeting “[Eff] the Grammys” on Monday.

Fans aren’t sure what prompted Wayne’s most recent response, but many aren’t surprised by it. Last December, the rapper, who’s won five Grammys out of 24 career nominations, questioned whether the Recording Academy deemed his music “worthy” enough for him to score an invite.

“As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited, I wonder. Is it me, my music, or just another technicality?” Wayne tweeted. “I look around with respect & wonder competitively, ‘Am I not worthy?’ Then I look around and see five Grammys looking back at me & I go to the studio.”

Wayne earned four Grammy wins for his 2008 album, Tha Carter III, including Best Rap Album. His most recent win came in 2017 for “No Problem,” which won for Best Rap Performance.

Despite Funeral marking Wayne’s fifth album to top the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, Wayne didn’t score any nods as a solo artist this year. Instead, his album received a nomination this year in the Best Recording Package category.

Last December, Lil Wayne also re-released the third installment to his popular album series No Ceilings 3 and No Ceilings 3: Side B.
