Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesR&B singer Lloyd returns with a powerful new song, “They Don’t Care.”

The song speaks of the much-needed change in society and opens with Lloyd saying, “There is no peace without modesty, there is no truth without honesty. [Eff], the police.”

“They Don’t Care” will be featured on EMPIRE record label’s new compilation album, Voices for Change, Vol. 1,  created in the name of social justice.

“The human voice is a dynamic gift — it can breathe life into movements, shatter misconceptions, and inspire change,” Lloyd wrote on Instagram. “Thank you, @empire, for the opportunity to lend my voice to this powerful project. All proceeds will go to the ACLU [American Civil Liberties Union] to support their racial justice, immigrant rights, criminal law reform, and voting rights work.”

Voices for Change, Vol. 1 also features PJ Morton‘s “You Should Be Ashamed” and music from Mozzy, Rotimi, D SmokeJacob Lattimore, SammieTrevor Jackson, and many others who lent their voices to advocate for change.

Lloyd has been relatively quiet on the music tip since teaming up with R&B legend Teddy Riley earlier this year for “Slow Wine Bass Line.” In 2018, Lloyd dropped his fifth studio album, Tru, and later dropped music videos for “Excited” and “Caramel,” featuring City Girls

This Saturday, Sept. 26, Lloyd will headline Atlanta’s Parking Lot Concert Series along with Bobby V and Pleasure P, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
