Luther Vandross to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Diana Scrimgeour/RedfernsWith multiple Grammy Awards to his credit, the late Luther Vandross will receive a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.

According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the legendary singer, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 51 due to a heart attack, will be honored outside the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 3.

Vandross’ star will be presented to his niece, Seveda Williams, and friend Alfonso “Fonzi” Thornton.

“Luther’s unparalleled voice and forever romantic tunes such as, ‘Never Too Much,’ ‘Power of Love,’ ‘Here and Now,’ ‘House Is Not a Home,’ ‘So Amazing’ and ‘Dance with My Father’ are known the world over,” says Leron Gubler, president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and emcee of the ceremonies. “We are honored to hold this dedication for a very special performer whose music will resonate for all time.”

Fans will be able to stream the ceremony live via WalkofFame.com at 11:30 a.m. PT.
