Mack Wilds Preps Grammy Awards Speech, to Avoid Being a “Babbling Idiot”

by

MackWilds.comThis weekend will see Mack Wilds attending his first Grammy Award ceremony and potentially taking home his first Grammy in the Best Urban Contemporary category for his debut album, New York: A Love Story. However, the biggest concern the actor-turned-R&B-singer has is making sure he prepares, you know, to avoid an awkward acceptance speech.

“I don’t want to go up there and do backflips a la Cuba Gooding Jr.,” he tells MTV News. “But I definitely have to figure out something up there to say so I don’t look like a babbling idiot.”

So far, Wilds has already decided to wear something “suit-esque” and take his father, who always wanted to attend the annual event. However, he still seems to be nervous on what to expect for music’s biggest night.

“I’ve never been, so honestly, I just want to see what it all entails, you know, the performances, the biting my nails, hoping they call my name, just the whole nine yards of what that entails and, uh, yeah, I’ll definitely be praying a lot that night,” he said.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be handed out Sunday night at 8 ET, airing on CBS.
