Mariah Carey to Sing at Christmas in Rockefeller Center, Leaves Voice Message for Fans

by

Heidi Gutman/NBCWhat would Christmas be without Mariah Carey to belt out “All I Want for Christmas Is You”?  The diva will sing her signature holiday hit on NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center this Wednesday, December 3, starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Mariah joins a cast that includes Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, Cyndi Lauper, Seth MacFarlane and Sara Bareilles, Idina Menzel, Pentatonix and country stars LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood.  The highlight will be the illuminating of the 85-foot tall Norway spruce that’s this year’s official New York City Christmas tree.

Mariah’s holiday album Merry Christmas — which features “All I Want for Christmas Is You” — was released 20 years ago, and fans have been celebrating the anniversary on social media.  This prompted Mariah to leave a voice message for fans on her SoundCloud page, telling them, “I see all the messages and feeling the love, and you are making me even happier at my favorite time of year: thank you!”

She adds that she’s “truly excited” for the run of Christmas concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theater this month, and invites fans to try to win tickets to the sold-out shows at MariahCarey.com.
