Marvin Sapp wants fans to be encouraged in hard times with his album Close

by

ABC RadioMarvin Sapp‘s latest album, Close, was nominated for the Best Gospel Album Grammy in November.

The celebrated gospel artist tells ABC Radio that the “major, major challenges” people face in life inspired the title for his disc.

He says, “For the believer, many times we get frustrated and we wonder, ‘Is God paying attention? Is God listening? Why would he allow me to experience some of the things I’m experiencing?'”

“What I’ve learned is that the reason why the enemy intensifies his attack against us is not because we’re at a distance, but it’s because we’re close,” Marvin continues.

“So I wanted to call the album Close just to encourage people, to let them know that no matter how crazy it may seem to be right now in your life, that you’re not at a distance from what God promised.”

Marvin promises that fans can find a “wonderful collage of music” on Close, that will give listeners an “opportunity to hear songs that will encourage, build, uplift and strengthen.”

“I’m not a praise and worship leader,” the pastor explains. “That’s never been my assignment in music ministry. “But I am an encourager.”

“So the songs that I try to write and try to sing are songs that really build people up and let them know that they can get through whatever challenge comes their way.”
