Fresh on the heels of being honored at the 2019 BET Awards, Blige has opened up to People about her newfound perspective and how she’s choosing to embrace being single.

“I learned to be happy with just Mary, just enjoying my own company, me by myself most of the time. I’m grateful,” the veteran singer told the magazine.

Back in 2016, Blige filed for divorce from her former manager and spouse Kendu Issacs, after alleging that he had been unfaithful during their 13-year long relationship. However, the “Just Fine” vocalist says she’s learned to be “very content” and “happy” with herself.

“I think I turned that corner when I got my divorce. I think that I realized that no matter what comes to me, no matter how big or bad it is, I have to keep moving, I have to keep living,” she explained.

While MJB has only officially been a single woman since June 2018, she revealed that a lot of potential suitors have been lining up to shoot their shot.

“There’s a lot,” she said when asked about the men vying for her love. “But I’m very selective. I’ve been in a bad relationship. So if it’s not worth it, it’s not worth it.”

In the meantime, MJB suggests she is simply focused on staying positive and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

“I stay working out, I try to eat right and treat people right,” the singer said. “I have fun too, don’t get it twisted, I go out with my friends, I laugh, I joke, I have wine. I do all of that.”
