ABC/ Ida Mae AstuteThere’s no question that Mary J. Blige is a strong woman, and now the Grammy-winner has teamed up with the female cast of TNT’s new series Claws for a “Strength of a Woman” video about female empowerment.
Throughout the video, actresses Karrueche Tran, Niecy Nash, Judy Reyes, Carrie Preston and Jenn Lyon are featured in scenes from Claws, which is about a group of women who work in a Florida nail salon.
Footage of Mary singing is interspersed with the show clips.
In an official statement, Mary says that the song was inspired by”very heavy trials and hardships” from her life, which mirrors similar themes from Claws.
“They’re [the characters] in some heavy, sticky, nasty situations, but that is what survival is about,” she adds.
“Strength of a Woman” is the latest single from Mary’s 13th studio album of the same name. You can catch Claws Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.
