Mary J. Blige says she and Method Man gave the world A hip hop love song that they will never forget

D’Andre Michael; Daniel PrakopcykMary J. Blige and Method Man will reunite as co-stars on the upcoming Power spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost.

The hip hop duo won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for their 1995 single, “You’re All I Need.” Now, they’re bringing that same magical spark to television screens near you.

Mary says she’s contemplated working with Method Man musically again, but this time “it’s gotta be great.”

“That’s not a bad idea,” she tells ABC Audio. “I don’t know, I hope so. I would love to work with my brother again. But it’s gotta be great. We have to top “You’re All I Need,” which we will never be able to do.”

“I think we’ve done what we were supposed to do and me giving the world a love song they will never forget,” Mary continued. “A hip hop love song that they will never forget.”

The two joined forces again in 2003 on Mary’s “Love @ First Sight” from her Love & Life album.

Method Man says the song was “well-received,” but he also doubts they will be able to capture the same Grammy-winning essence twice around.

“Whatever Mary’s down for I’m down for,” the Wu-Tang Clan star explained. “But I doubt it will be as big as the Grammy-Award winning song.”

Power Book II: Ghost, starring Mary J. Blige and Method Man, premieres September 6 at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
