ABC/Fred LeeMiguel is celebrating Thursday’s kickoff of the World Cup with a new TV spot for Major League Soccer.
Miguel loves soccer, and he narrates the Our Soccer clip as he sits home with friends watching a game. He also walks the streets, observing skate boarders going to a pizza parlor and cheering their favorite teams on television.
“Our Soccer is everywhere,” the “Skywalker” singer says in the 30-second promo. “It runs the streets, reps where we’re from, makes us known so the world knows who we are, how we live, how we do. Our Soccer.”
Miguel was chosen for the campaign because he’s a strong supporter of Major League Soccer, and the Los Angeles Galaxy team.
“Our Soccer is about sharing what makes MLS such a distinct League — its diversity, its progressive and confident attitude, and Miguel is a superstar who embodies those ideals and spirit,” David Bruce, vice president of brand and Integrated Marketing at Major League Soccer, tells Billboard.
“His genuine connection to the League and LA Galaxy shone through, and were highlighted in the spot thanks to the friends and family he brought with him who are huge MLS and soccer fans,” Bruce adds.
