Monica and her husband, Shannon Brown, spent the weekend enjoying a carnival-themed baby shower for their soon-to-be-born daughter, Laiyah, with family and friends.
People reports the festivities were held in Atlanta at the home of Jermaine Durpri, who is a close friend to the singer and responsible for her earlier hit singles. “It was very whimsical, just like a Disney princess movie and just as I had envisioned it,” Monica told the mag. “There was so much love in the room and everybody had a great time.”
Complete with stilt walkers, jugglers, a carousel cake, the lavish event housed 200 guests and included Ludacris, Keri Hilson and Bravo reality star NeNe Leaks.
Monica, who has two sons Rocko, 8, and Romelo Montez, 5, expressed her excitement to do girly things with her daughter. “I’m excited to share shopping dates and manis and pedis with her. But I’m really looking forward to teaching her about life,” says Monica. “I want to be an example to her like my mother was to me.”
Monica shared on Twitter that Shannon was hoping for a girl and it seems the entire family is looking forward to meeting the couple’s first daughter. The singer posted an image on her Instagram page revealing that her sons have already purchased the baby girl her first Louis Vuitton bag.
