Brian Dowling/Picture GroupOrange is Monica‘s new black, in the official video for her latest effort “Commitment.”
Directed by Teyana Taylor, the accompanying visual follows the vocalist as she is charged and subsequently sent to prison for a heinous crime involving her unfaithful spouse. The video also features a cameo from Monica’s longtime friend and Friends & Family Hustle co-star Tameka “Tiny” Harris.
Ironically, the Orange Is the New Black-inspired visual arrives just a few short weeks after it was reported that Monica had filed for divorce from her husband, former NBA star, Shannon Brown.
“Commitment” is the lead single from the singer’s seventh album, Chapter 38, due to arrive later this year through her new indie label imprint MonDeenise Music, Inc.
Early last month, Monica revealed that the new album will explore “love, joy, pain, heartbreak, redemption, and the ability to stand strong.”
