Monica skyrockets to number one on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart with Commitment

by

MonDeenise RecordsMonica has officially notched her fourth number one on Billboard‘s Adult R&B Songs chart with her latest single “Commitment.”

This week, the teder ballad jumped from number two to the top slot after spending 23 weeks on the tally, initially debuting at number 23. Notably, “Commitment” accounts for Monica’s first number-one entry on the chart in nearly a decade, since 2010’s “Love All Over Me.”

In addition, the record marks the first of Monica’s 19 hits on the Adult R&B Songs chart to be released independently via her newly-established label, MonDeenise Records.

“Owning and operating MonDeenise while being the artist has not been easy,” Monica told Billboard of the feat. “It’s come with many sacrifices — monetarily, physically and even emotionally at times.’

She added: “I don’t regret a minute of it because I know there’s no one who will believe in you like you!”

The vocal powerhouse also previously held the top spot with “Everything to Me” and “For You I Will.”

Later this year, Monica is expected to release her highly-anticipated ninth studio album, Chapter 38. The effort marks her first independent release and will also include the recent single “Me + You.”
