Nathan Morris say it’s not the right climate for another Boyz II Men album

by

ABC/Eric McCandlessBoyz II Men‘s Nathan Morris is opening up about what’s next for the singing group after they wrap up their Las Vegas residency.

The Grammy-Award winner, along with Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman, can be seen performing during select weekend dates at the Mirage Las Vegas. Morris tells ABC Radio that although the group loves making new music, they aren’t necessarily focused on releasing another full-length album.

“We do realize that this is not a climate for the type of music that we do. It’s just not,” Morris says.

Morris explains that he and the band are now more interested in compilations — like their 2017 album of covers, Under the Streetlight — and doing one-off, fun collaborations with other artists, like Charlie Puth on his 2018 song, “If You Leave Me Now.”

“So there’s opportunities for us to do stuff that we love to do,” he continues. “But, going in the studio and putting together an album and all that months of work and then putting it out and either people stealing it, or not really vibing to it because it’s not what today’s music is– it’s a little bit, you know, frustrating.”

Thankfully, Morris says, the group can afford to do what they want without having to give it much thought.

“We like to pick what we call specialty projects and we’ll still always sing some stuff, but by the grace of God– [and] twenty-seven years– it doesn’t float us financially,” he reveals. “So, we have the option to do it when we want to and we don’t have to do it if we don’t.”

And of course, fans can still catch Boyz II Men singing their hits in Vegas. Check the Mirage Las Vegas’ website for more details on their Vegas residency dates.
