Ne-Yo gets ready for his close-up in new YouTube Step Up series

ABC/ Ida Mae AstuteStep Up is the movie franchise that keeps on giving: Ne-Yo has been tapped to star in a small screen revival of the dance for YouTube Red.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the forthcoming 10-episode drama series is called Step Up: High Water, and it’ll also feature former Glee actress Naya River, as well as Faizon Love.   

Filming will take place in Atlanta. Ne-Yo’s character, Sage Odom, is the focal point of the series, as the founder of Atlanta’s fictitious High Water Performing Arts School.

The first Step Up movie debuted in 2006 and starred Channing Tatum and his now-wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum.  

The dancing duo have signed on to executive produce Step Up: High Water.

Four other films from the franchise have been released since then, including the latest installment in 2014, Step Up: All In.
