Ne-Yo named his new album Good Man — a now he’s revealed the inspiration for it.

The singer/actor says “the courtship of my wife” is the reason he named the album what he did, and he wants his own actions to reflect that title.

“Once I realized who she was and what I had, I had to make some changes.” Ne-Yo tells Entertainment Tonight. “I had to self-reflect, I had to evolve. In order to keep a good woman you got to be a good man.”

Ne-Yo, born Shaffer Chimere Smith, has been married for two years to Crystal Smith, and on June 14, she gave birth to their second child together, Roman Alexander-Raj Smith. They also have a two-year-old son together, Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr.

Ne-Yo also has two children from a previous relationship: seven-year-old daughter Madilyn Grace Smith and six-year-old son Mason Evan Smith.

The “Sexy Love” singer says in Crystal, he found the person to make him want to be a better man.

“There is one woman who a man will let inspire his change,” Ne-Yo declares. “She herself won’t change him but she can inspired him to change, and that’s exactly what happened here.
