Nelly will add to his long list of accolades when he receives the I Am Hip Hop Award at the 16th annual BET Hip Hop Awards on October 5.

“I am honored to receive this award and humbled to be in such great company of past artists who have received this award,” the “Hot in Herre” rapper said in a statement. “I have been blessed to work with some incredible people in my career, making 22 years go by in the blink of an eye. This award isn’t just about Nelly; it is about my fans, BET, and the people that continue to support me and allow me to do what I love to do.”

Since beginning his recording career with his 10-million selling, diamond certified debut album, Country Grammar, in 2000, the three-time Grammy winner has enjoyed a versatile career. In 2003, he launched his Apple Bottoms women’s clothing line, and the following year, he joined Michael Jordan as part owner of the Charlotte NBA franchise.

Nelly’s many hits include “Ride with Me,” “Dilemma” with Kelly Rowland, “Air Forces Ones,” “Shake Ya Tailfeather” with Diddy and Murphy Lee, “My Place” featuring Jaheim, “Over and Over” with country superstar Tim McGraw, and “Grillz” with Paul Wall.

As an actor, he starred from 2013-2016 in Real Husbands of Hollywood, and in 2014, his reality show, Nellyville. The 46-year-old entertainer also appeared in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, and Snipes in 2001 with Zoe Saldana.

Cardi B, Lil Durk, and Megan Thee Stallion lead all artists with nine nominations each for the BET Hip Hop Awards, followed by Drake with eight nods.

The BET Hip Hop Awards will air Tuesday, October 5 at 9 p.m. on BET.
