Netflix is working on a brand-new comedy series that will star two of stand-up comedy’s finest.
The streamer announced Tuesday that they’ve tapped Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps to star in The Upshaws, a comedy series that follows a working-class African-American family in Indiana that struggles to make a better life “without the blueprints to do it.”
Sykes will co-executive produce the series with Epps, and will also also serve as co-showrunner.
This is the latest project for Sykes, who was Emmy-nominated this year for Outstanding Variety Special for her first Netflix special, Wanda Sykes: Not Normal.
Epps also will appear opposite Eddie Murphy in the Netflix comedy Dolemite Is My Name, due out later this year.
