Nicki Minaj reportedly facing multi-million-dollar lawsuit for allegedly ripping off Rich Sex from another writer

by

Gilbert Carrasquillo/GC ImagesA Queens, New York rapper is suing Nicki Minaj for more than $200 million over her song “Rich Sex.”

According to TMZ, Jawara Headley, who goes by the stage name Brinx Billions, claims he should be credited as “the sole author/creator/composer/writer/producer” of the song. In court docs, Headley claims he let Nicki hear his version of “Rich Sex” prior to 2016, when she told him “it would be extremely marketable and become a global hit.”

Headley is credited as a writer on the song according to the ASCAP database, reports TMZ. According to Headley, he and Minaj met via MySpace in 2007. As proof of Nicki’s alleged theft, the lawsuit highlights specific lyrics, including “it ain’t such a thing as broke and handsome” from the song’s chorus.

According to Headley, Nicki’s “Rich Sex” version has “similar music, musical notes, musical arrangement, musical beats and musical rhythm” to his. He believes Nicki stole the song for her 2018 album, Queen, and added a guest verse from Lil Wayne. Headley is suing Nicki, Cash Money, Young Money, and Universal Music Group for more than $200 million in damages.

In other Nicki news, over the weekend she shared the first photos of their adorable son with her husband Kenneth Petty. “PapaBear thank you so very much for choosing me to be your mama. Wishing you guys a happy & prosperous New Year,” wrote Minaj on Instagram. “Thank you for your love & support throughout this journey. It’s meant so much to me.”
