Dave La ChapelleNicki Minaj is officially a mom.
People reports the “Yikes” rapper gave birth to her first child with husband Kenneth Petty on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Nicki announced her pregnancy in July, sharing a few glammed-up Instagram photos of her showing her baby bump, without revealing the baby’s gender. “Preggers,” Nicki captioned an image of herself wearing curly yellow wig and a floral-themed bra.
“Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude,” she captioned another photo of herself, reclining on a pink sofa. In yet another photo, Nicki wore a blue wig styled into an updo, while sporting a pink-and-blue ruffled top.
Nicki married her husband last October after having dated as teenagers and then reconnected in 2018.
It’s been a dream for the “Move Ya Hips” rapper to become a mother, which she revealed during a 2015 Cosmopolitan interview. Speaking about the future, Nicki said she saw herself married with two children.
“Ten years from now, I will have two children, unless my husband wants three. I will be into my fitness a lot more, I will stop yo-yo dieting, and I’ll be a housewife with careers that I can run from home,” Nicki said. “I want to be able to cook for my children, bake cookies for them, and watch them grow up. I just want to be Mommy. Take them to school, go to the parent-teacher conference, help them with their homework, and put their work on the refrigerator.”
