Nipsey Hussle was at the peak of his career when he was shot and killed outside of his Marathon Clothing Store in March 2019. His life, though cut short, will now be the focus of a docuseries produced by his own production company, Marathon Films, and LeBron James and Maverick Carter‘s SpringHill studios.

The untitled docuseries will specifically explore Nipsey’s rise to fame, from his upbringing in the gang-riddled neighborhood of Crenshaw, Los Angeles, to his success as a rapper and owner of All Money In record label, Marathon Clothing store, Marathon Agency brand and coworking company Vector 90.

It will also feature exclusive footage of Nipsey, interviews with his longtime partner Lauren LondonSnoop Dogg and Diddy, and appearances from family members such as Nipsey’s older brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom.

“Nipsey was a man of the people,” Samiel said in a statement. “He often said his purpose in life was to inspire. Nipsey’s light shone across the world. His life is a testament that his purpose was fulfilled.”

“The family has taken the proper time and care needed to ensure that Nipsey’s life story be detailed and presented correctly and accurately,” he continued. “We are honored to be able to cement Nipsey’s legacy with this epic docuseries of his life. Nipsey said, ‘If they made a story about my life, it better be a classic.'”

A release date for the docuseries has not been announced.
